What is e-design… and why should I hire an e-designer?
E-design, or as I prefer to call it e-decorating, is a form in interior design or decorating that is completed entirely online.
Not a new phenomenon, it has none-the-less seen a stellar rise in popularity over the last few years thanks to the realities of Covid. Stuck in our homes, with just four walls to entertain us, our desire to beautify our homes (safely) has become become more urgent than ever.
What is e-design?
E-design is a simple, easy and affordable alternative to more traditional, in-person interior design.
Because it is completed online, the costs associated with travel and face-to-face meetings are cut out, making e-design much more cost effective.
The great thing about e-design is that you get all the benefits of working with a qualified interior designer or decorator, but you get to chat and interact when it suits you, from the comfort of your own home. If you want to wear your PJs, then just do it!
How does e-design work?
Because it is completed entirely online, you will need to be a little more hands-on. Not a lot, but just a little. But hey, if that brings the costs down, then why not!
Here at Interiorology, we aim to make the process as easy and stress free as possible.
To start with, you will usually be asked to complete a short questionnaire that sets out to determine your needs, preferences and budget. You might even be asked to send some pictures of your favourite Pinterest inspo.
Next you will be asked to take a few photos of your room and perhaps even some measurements.
After that, it is over to your designer (hopefully us!).
Here at Interiorology, we typically put together two (or three) inspiration moodboards to start with.
Not familiar with the term Moodboard? Well basically, a moodboard is a visual representation of ideas for a design project. Something like these boards that I have worked on previously.
Indeed, when you work with Interiorology, you can be confident that we put a lot of time and effort into getting this stage right.
Each moodboard will include colour and furniture styles that we recommend you consider.
Although we will often use items that are readily available and within our client’s budget, this is not always the case. The idea at this stage is really to get a feel for what the client does and does not like.
Once the client has had an opportunity to consider the options, they are then asked to select their preferred one.
At this point, we have a chat and discuss any changes you might like to see before your proposed room moodboard is finalised.
Next step?? Well this is the part most clients can’t wait for! This is where you open your Inbox to find a beautifully curated moodboard set out just for you, including full shopping list and recommendations for placement of items.
See what I mean - easy! You didn’t even have to leave home! And you get a professionally curated room ready for you to implement!
So why should I hire an e-designer?
Well, I am hoping that if you have read this far, you should by now be pretty confident that hiring an e-designer is a great decision!
However, if you are still not sure, here are a few other reasons.
E-designers do all the hard work for you. No more need to spend hours doing online researching, or worse still, Saturdays traipsing through endless shops.
E-designers often have access to discounts that you can’t get. Depending on your location and selections, these discounts might save you considerable money (possibly more than you spent on the design process itself!).
E-desigers understand colour and decorating styles in a way that you might not. Working with an e-designer means that you can have the confidence that comes from working with a qualified decorator.
Turn-around times are usually quite quick and you get to control when you purchase the items and put the room together. We give you the blueprint, but you are in charge of the timing.
Affordable. Ok, so I have probably said this one before, but it is worth repeating. Hiring an e-designer is likely to be one of the most cost effective decisions you make!
