Colour Forecast 2022 - Flourish by Dulux

It’s that time of the year. Spring is here (in Australia at least), thoughts start to turn to Christmas… and international paint companies start to release their colour forecasts for the new year.

Here in Australia, Dulux has recently released not one, but three Colour Forecast ranges for the new year.

Named Flourish, Restore and Wonder, these three colour palettes offer an exciting range of options to brighten and warm up our homes in 2022. Although each of the three palettes are somewhat different, one trend runs in common. 2022 is all about warmth and colour - gone is the trend for whites and neutrals - with deeper hues and muted colours clearly in fashion.

Flourish

Perhaps my favourite of the three options, this colour forecast range is full of deep, dusty and rich hues that fit perfectly with the current trend towards creating warm and colourful spaces that just scream cosiness and relaxation.

Jewel-inspired colours

The palette includes deep blues and greens as well as golds - colours that work either setting the tone in a vintage setting (think Regency styled sitting rooms, with beautiful jewel coloured velvet furnishings) or alternatively as a pop of colour in a more neutral setting.

Warm Desert Days (and nights)

In addition to these jewel-rich colours, Flourish also includes colours that speak to an entirely different geographical location and era, Indeed, the predominance of dusty reds and corals remind me of a summer spent in Morocco in my late teens. I can almost smell and hear the sounds of the souks (markets) and visualise the mosaics and rich textiles that accompany these colours. Perfect for the current trend of rounded edges!
